It’s a common question asked in a bride’s mind, but the question isn’t quite as simple as it sounds.
It’s often the case that the color of the wedding cake is the biggest influence on whether she’ll get married.
But when it comes to the wedding pie, it’s actually a little more complicated than that.
“You can’t say the color is the deciding factor in how you look at the wedding, but it’s definitely the factor,” said Kate Dufour.
“If you can make the color that’s flattering for you, that’s what makes the wedding so special.”
To help you choose which colors are best, CBC News has put together this guide to help you decide which ones to use in your fall wedding.
Here are the five most important things to remember when choosing colors for your fall celebration.
Avoid too many colors The color of your cake is key to the overall experience of your wedding.
It makes the look and feel of the celebration feel unique, while also providing the most elegant and stylish option.
If you’re using too many different colors, you may find it difficult to find a match that works for you.
“When I was starting out, I was thinking about every single color I could get my hands on, and I just couldn’t find a single one that fit my style,” said Emily Pape, a wedding planner with Pape & Co. in Toronto.
“Now, I just have to stick to what I’ve got.”
“The more you choose colors, the more you’ll find out what your taste buds are looking for,” added Pape.
“There are so many beautiful colors that you can choose from, and then you’ve got to figure out what works for your style.”
Use a neutral color The idea is to choose a color that doesn’t clash with other colors.
That way, when your cake arrives, you can have a simple and unified look, which is what makes your cake so special.
“In my mind, the color neutral is the most neutral color,” said Pape who prefers to use a lighter shade of brown for her wedding cake.
“It’s very flattering, but you don’t want it to be too dark.
So, if you can go light or neutral, I think it works very well.”
Don’t overdo it There are a few things you can do to ensure your cake looks great.
Use an eye-catching color that matches your style, for example.
If your cake doesn’t have a lot of sparkle or sparkle on it, consider adding a few extra layers of sparkles.
If there are more than five layers of your design, choose a neutral tone to accentuate your design.
If using a color for the cake itself, consider using a lighter or brighter shade.
Try to make your cake as simple and as elegant as possible.
“I’m a minimalist, and the more layers I have on the cake, the less I have to make it,” said Dufours.
“The cake is a really simple, straightforward thing.
It just has to be the most beautiful thing.”
Try using less white than white and more pink The number of white layers on your cake will dictate how you choose your colors.
You may have a couple of layers of white cake, but only a couple on the edges of your dessert.
If this is the case, you might want to consider using less pink or white cake.
This will allow your cake to have more of a contrast with the other colors in your cake.
To make sure you’re getting the perfect balance of colors on your wedding cake, opt for a neutral or light palette of white, brown, black, and silver.
If choosing a color combination that works well for you is difficult, try adding more pink and/or more black.
If it’s your first time, do your research Before you head to the store to purchase a cake, look into the different cake decorating options available in your area, as well as other options you might be interested in purchasing.
You might be surprised by the amount of different choices there are out there.
The best way to choose colors is to ask the people at your wedding and see what the options are, says Pape; she suggests choosing one of the options that you like the most.
“A lot of people think they know the most amazing cake colors, but I think most of them don’t,” said Shelly Kagan.
“They’re just looking for the best one for them, and that’s definitely a mistake.”
